| Comments: | Hi there, Just been browsing your website, and as so many have stated, it brought back some wonderful memories. I was in Ndola from about 1959 until early sixties, and employed by the then Netherlands Bank of S.A.Ltd, which after independence changed to Commercial Bank Zambia. The manager of the bank at the time was James Facey, and the accountant Anton Schipper. In the 60's I was transferred to various branches in the country, and ended up in Kitwe as manager. In Ndola I originallt stayed in the Elephant & Castle hotel, owned and managed by Len and Jack Catchpole. I moved out later and boarded with the Vermeulen family. I used to play in a small dance band as a drummer, and spent some time at the Savoy hotel drumming for Ludwig (sirname forgotten) and a lady pianist. The were good days in God's country!!! 31/02/07 |

I gotta say that the Hindu Mandir in Ndola is my best place of comfort...u can't find a better Mandir than that anywhere else... and the people in Zambia are always going to be a huge part of my heart... | Comments: | If anyone wants to have a holiday of a lifetime, my recommendation is to return to Zambia. I took my family there last year (with some trepidation), and we all cant wait to return. We of course visited Ndola which is looking a bit worse for wear ... and the Luangwa Valley which ws AWESOME. Tell Alistair Paterson, we visited the bakery, had a coke and we have some pictures of his cousins there! |
